Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.
Mesa, Arizona
With a growing need for additional customer service facilities, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. engaged BRPH to design its newest maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility. Located at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, the new facility is the company’s first facility in Arizona. It will provide additional capacity to serve the company’s expanding network and in-service fleet of nearly 3,000 aircraft.
BRPH is providing architectural and engineering design services for the $100 million, 225,000-square-foot facility. Scheduled to open in 2023, the facility is expected to achieve LEED Silver certification and will expand Gulfstream’s MRO capabilities in the Western United States.
The new facility will include hangar space, back shops and employee and customer offices. In addition to the anticipated LEED Silver certification, the facility is being designed with sustainable operations in mind. It will feature a fuel farm with a dedicated sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply; low-flow plumbing fixtures; LED lighting; building management systems; and an energy-efficient HVAC system. The design also incorporates occupancy sensor-controlled lights, a white roof to reflect heat, native plants and low-water-demand landscaping. Gulfstream is also working with the airport authority to explore using green power from the electrical utility and installing solar panels on-site.
Since 2006, BRPH has performed more than 20 Gulfstream projects, ranging from modifications to existing buildings to designs for new large-scale facilities at operations in Savannah, Georgia; West Palm Beach, Florida; and Fort Worth, Texas.
