MELBOURNE, FLA. June 7, 2022 – BRPH client United Airlines recently broke ground on its expanded flight training center in Denver, already the largest of its kind worldwide. The four-story, hands-on simulation and classroom facility will operate around the clock at United’s 23-acre Central Park campus to support the extensive growth of the airline’s pilot workforce.

BRPH will complete the $100 million design build project with longtime partner Turner Construction on an accelerated schedule and anticipated completion by the end of 2023. The project adds to BRPH’s portfolio of hands-on training facilities, including flight training centers, but marks the firm’s first project with United and owner’s representatives Civil Innovations, LLC.

“We are excited to build a relationship with United Airlines and to help them grow their business by expanding their world-class training facility,” said Nerissa Ramsey, architectural studio lead for BRPH. “We are proud to support the phenomenal growth of our client as well as the airline industry as a whole.”

The new facility is designed to house 12 full flight simulators and six flight training devices to be used by pilots for initial and recurrent flight training. The facility also will feature an outdoor dining terrace with picturesque mountain views. The project is led by an interdisciplinary team of architects and engineers from BRPH offices located in Melbourne, Fla., Orlando, Fla., and Seattle.

The expanded training center is designed to mirror the architectural style established on United’s original campus built in 1968. To meet the City of Denver’s Green Building Ordinance, 25,000 square feet of photovoltaic panels are planned to be placed on the roof. The new facility is designed with the goal of earning LEED Silver certification.
