Elite Hospitality
Flagler Beach, Florida

The Compass Hotel by Margaritaville breathes new life into the sleepy oceanfront town of Flagler Beach, Florida. A property of distinction in the Compass portfolio, the newest Margaritaville hotel was highly customized and thoughtfully adapted in size, scale and architecture not only to meet strident building requirements and height restrictions from the City of Flagler Beach and other community stakeholders, but also to ensure connectivity to its surroundings and resonance with residents.

Scaled to a full city block, the 70,000-square-foot hotel was designed to be engaging and approachable from all four sides. Pedestrians may enter from the north parking lot or at one of three south-side ingresses—the central lobby, the 500-square-foot “Live Life Like a Song” retail shop, or the 4,000-square-foot “The Salty Rim Bar & Grill,” which offers casual ground-level dining with adjacency to the 60-seat pool deck, private cabanas and oceanfront views. The rooftop “Chill Bar” offers stunning views, spectacular sunsets and tropical breezes to enhance that “five o’clock somewhere” state of mind.

Elevated design detailing, including dovetailed wood arches and window awnings, as well as stonework wainscotting around the perimeter of the hotel add sophistication, while traditional Margaritaville-brand elements, including colorful parrots and directional signage, lend a relaxed vibe. The hotel interiors, too, are carefully curated to convey the low-key luxury of the brand. Jimmy Buffet-inspired imagery and song lyrics are sprinkled throughout.

BRPH provided full programming, design and architecture, civil engineering and interior design for the new development, providing the client, Elite Hospitality, with a fully integrated and seamless design process.
