The Florida Department of Transportation last week announced the winners of their prestigious state transportation awards.

The Orlando Melbourne International Airport was honored with two awards, one being the Airport Project of the Year for the Embraer Legacy expansion. As the architect of record for this project, BRPH shared the accolade with contractor The Austin Company and the airport at an awards ceremony held on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

Orlando Regional Director, Francisco Alvarado and Senior Project Manager, Anne Maguire accepted the award on behalf of BRPH.

The project was selected for the award based on several factors, including its economic impact on the region, challenges it overcame when faced with Hurricane Matthew, cost efficiencies, as well as planning around the construction of the project that allowed production of the Phenom 100 and 300 business jets to continue uninterrupted.

BRPH was awarded the project in 2014 for planning and design services of the expansion.
