BRPH Vice President of Aerospace & Defense Selected to Lead Global Spaceport Alliance’s Commercial Spaceflight Research Alliance Workgroup
MELBOURNE, FLA. Jan. 20, 2025 – BRPH, a nationally ranked architecture, engineering and construction firm headquartered in Melbourne, Fla., announced today that Steve Lloyd, vice president and business unit leader for aerospace and defense, has been named the chair for the Commercial Spaceflight Research Alliance (CSRA), a working group organized by the Global Spaceport Alliance (GSA) late last year.
The goal of the CSRA is “to create an alliance of all interested parties from government, industry and academia to address commercial spaceflight topics of interest,” specifically, the challenges facing the industry. The working group was formed to encourage research efforts that will support successful and sustainable spaceport operations, enhance spaceflight safety and facilitate continued growth of the global space economy, as well as to identify funding sources for that research.
As chair of the CSRA, Lloyd leads a group of industry professionals from around the world, and is charged with attracting additional stakeholders from spaceports, universities, companies and government agencies. He also serves on GSA’s finance working group.
Lloyd will be speaking at the Global Spaceport Summit on Jan. 27, at 2:15 p.m., to provide an update on CSRA progress. The Global Spaceport Summit is a part of Commercial Space Week, held at the Orange County Convention Center. BRPH is a gold sponsor for the event.
“The Global Spaceport Alliance is leading the way for the growth of spaceports all over the world by facilitating collaboration among spaceport developers on both sides of the business. I’m thrilled to lead this working group and to help move the industry forward by taking on some of the most challenging issues affecting the commercial space industry,” said Lloyd. “As a leading provider of spaceport infrastructure development with 60 years of experience in this field, BRPH is uniquely positioned to provide knowledge, insight and leadership to our partners in this endeavor.”
Prior to joining BRPH in December 2023, Lloyd served as chief development officer and executive vice president of All Points in Merritt Island, Fla., an engineering, technology and logistics support firm, where he led development of infrastructure and business processes for payload processing and associated capabilities in Florida and California. Prior to that, he spent 25 years serving in progressive roles at United Space Alliance at Kennedy Space Center, Fla.
The Global Spaceport Alliance was formed in 2015 with a vision to “be recognized worldwide as the official organization for spaceports and the spaceport eco-system.” For more information, visit: https://www.globalspaceportalliance.com/
