MELBOURNE, FLA. April 5, 2022 –The Engineer’s Council, a nationally recognized awards organization, recently presented BRPH with four awards at its south Florida annual Honors & Awards Banquet. The awards recognize outstanding contributions by individuals in the fields of engineering, education and special fields of work and public service. The awards ceremony was one of three held across the United States.
Two BRPH team members received the Outstanding Engineering Achievement Merit Award:
- Jennifer Harvin, Senior Civil Engineer, was lauded for her “technical leadership and exceptional contribution in developing stormwater circulation and modeling, water and wastewater infrastructure and site civil engineering design.”
- Derek Nolek, Director of Ground Support Engineering, received the award for “technical leadership in ground support engineering—building, testing and operations on rocket launch complexes around the United States.”
Two BRPH projects received the Outstanding Project Achievement Award:
- Allied Chemical Chlor-Alkali Plant: BRPH managed, developed and constructed the largest chlor-alkali chemical plant in the state of Florida. The plant converts salt to bleach in a fraction of the time used by other plants worldwide and recycles the chemical byproducts back into production. The team was led by Cris Vigil and included Doug Hyde, Pamela Drazich, Rusty Witt, Erik Powton, Juan Hernandez and Lee Williams.
- A client-confidential project also received an award. The team was led by Andrew Lawrence and included Ken Paquette, Matt Rohaus, David Balawajder, James Woodard, Robert Nelson, Ken Brown, Mike Blanchard, Matt Chambers, Roy Nicholas, Mark Halavin, Mo Pariag, Kellie Jaziri, and James Nordin.
The Engineers’ Council is a not-for-profit professional society organized in 1955 to advance education in engineering and the sciences, encourage engineering career selection in youth, and recognize engineers for their significant accomplishments. The organization funds scholarships for graduating high school seniors seeking to pursue STEM degrees in college, supports high school mentoring programs, sponsors middle-school math and science educational enrichment programs, supports activities that bring STEM alive through hands-on engagement, and partners with other organizations to provide scholarships to summer STEM activities. The council has maintained a presence in South Florida for the past 10 years, chaired by BRPH senior vice president and principal, Cris Vigil, PE, LEED AP.
