BRPH is a full service Architectural/Engineering firm specializing in state-of-the-art facility design. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Lynnwood, Washington office located near Seattle. Ideally, this individual would have 10-20 years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for a wide variety of building types. This position would involve leading and mentoring a small group of junior engineers anxious to learn more about mechanical systems for buildings with the ultimate goal of expanding the mechanical department as our company continues to grow. Many of our projects can be seen at www.brph.com. We pride ourselves on providing skilled engineering practice to complex building types, while working in an environment that appreciates a true balance between work and quality of life. We value a team approach to problem solving, and the importance and benefits of a strong mentoring program. Our staff of 25 mechanical engineers and designers fully support each other and willing share knowledge and skills across all our offices and different experience levels.

The ideal candidate would be very familiar with the fundamentals of designing HVAC and plumbing systems for buildings, including performing cooling/heating load calculations, identifying and choosing appropriate system types, designing typical air-side systems including ductwork design, static pressure drop calculations, equipment selection, etc. Experience designing chilled water, condenser water and heating hot water systems, including central plant design, pumping systems and piping system design and layout is also required. Development of complete sets of construction documents from schematic design to final CDs and specifications is required. Coordinating construction administration duties (answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, meeting with project stakeholders) is also a requirement of this position. Again, working with, teaching, and guiding a staff of junior engineers is of paramount importance.

A primary function of this Engineering Level is the complete ability to take any size job from inception through project closeout. This will include understanding and/or developing the project’s scope, fee, and schedule. Input into the three activities may be required.

Working knowledge of computer aided design drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings and performing limited Revit operations is a plus, but in general, this level of engineer will rely on actual drawing production from junior engineers and designers.

Candidate should be proficient in the use of:

-Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word

-Bluebeam

-Trane Trace Load 700

-Energy modeling

-Miscellaneous mechanical system and product selection and sizing software

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

-Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
