Lamarque Elementary School
Unique design, safety, security, and economy were the goals of the school district for their new elementary school, the largest in the county. This unique design incorporates many additional client requirements into a successful prototype that accommodates 1,233 students. Despite its size, the campus was constructed in 10 months. The school consists of a large 2-story academic building, a covered play structure, and a central energy plant. It does double duty as a special needs emergency shelter when hurricanes threaten Florida's gulf coast, and has been awarded the Energy Star rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
