Vought Aircraft Industries

The cavernous Vought Aircraft Industries Boeing 787 Dreamliner manufacturing building houses 38 production cells including a Class 300,000 clean room the size of a football field. Half the cells include massive composite handling machines, which require specialized deep foundations. The remaining cells have multi-story work platforms to allow personnel to work on the fuselage. The autoclave, a pressurization vessel used to cure the composite material, is the largest one in the world, measuring 32 feet in diameter and more than 110 feet in length.
