Blankner is one of a number of schools re-emerging on the educational landscape with the Kindergarten through 8th grade model, which can be very successful in areas like this downtown neighborhood. In budget conscious school districts, combining amenities and facilities makes sense. The design uses flexible academies, clusters, or houses that meet the multiple needs of the K-8 school student. Research has shown that parents feel that they have more control and stay involved longer in a K-8 school where their children spend significant time.
