Florida Power & Light ' Turkey Point RCA

BRPH provided design services for the Radiological Control Area (RCA) Access Building at Florida Power and Light's Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant in South Florida. The RCA is a perimeter around nuclear reactors defined by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for nuclear power plant facilities. The 40,000 SF facility is comprised of three floors and equipped with numerous classified security measures including physical barriers and illuminated detection zones, closed-circuit television system, alarm/alert devices, and bullet-resistant barriers to critical areas. The building is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and includes standby generator power in the event of a power outage.
