P.K . Yonge Developmental Research School

The BRPH integrated services team will design and construct a school created especially for the P.K. Yonge Developmental Research school's unique learning environment. The challenging site on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville features multiple contours traversed by a stream. These very challenges inspired the new school's design. The two-story building follows the contours of the stream with a unique configuration of angles and balconies for learning at the creek's edge. The facility incorporates some of the newest educational concepts: a learning studio, small learning communities, a café concept, interior and exterior vistas, dispersion of technology, and flexible learning spaces. The facility is designed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification with the U.S. Green Building Council LEED Green Building Rating System.
