Food bank gets lift from Atlanta Canstruction event
November 21, 2011

ATLANTA,GEORGIA - What do you get when you meld construction with canned goods? The answer is Canstruction, an annual charity event hosted by AIA Atlanta that brings together local architects, engineers and designers to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Each team of industry professionals designs and builds structures made entirely out of cans within a 10x10x8 space.

The BRPH display, an 8-foot tall multi-colored cancer ribbon representing all cancers, was a collective hit with judges and attendees and resulted in first place designations. The team was awarded first place for Structural Ingenuity with Best Use of Labels also being noted. The unique structure was built with over 1,300 cans, gator board and double-sided sticky tape.

At the end of the competition display period, all canned foods used in the exhibit were sent to Atlanta Food Bank for needy families to use this holiday season.
