First U.S. waste-to-fuel biorefinery under construction
June 17, 2011
VERO BEACH, FLORIDA - The United States' FIRST Advanced Waste-to-Fuel Commercial Biorefinery is under construction in Vero Beach, Florida and BRPH is playing an important role in the facility's completion.
INEOS New Planet BioEnergy (INPB), a joint venture between INEOS Bio and New Planet Energy, is creating the $130 million Indian River BioEnergy Center to produce ethanol and renewable power from waste. The facility will be the first commercial-scale facility in the United States to manufacture advanced (cellulosic) biofuels using the INEOS Bio gasification and fermentation technology and will convert yard, vegetative and household wastes into cellulosic ethanol and renewable power for the local community.
AMEC has the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract and BRPH is providing ancillary engineering support via on-site construction engineering as well as additional services.
The facility is expected to be operational by mid-2012. For more information on the project, click here.
